Junior Auxiliary of Grenada 2025

Woman of distinction:

Mrs. JO LyNN Mims

Junior Auxiliary of Grenada’s 2025 Woman of Distinction, life member Jo Lynn Mims, was recognized at the chapter’s fall luncheon for a lifetime of leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to the Grenada community. After moving to Grenada in 1984, Jo Lynn dedicated herself to serving children, families, and schools through both her professional work and volunteer efforts.

For decades, she supported students and educators through roles as PTA president, substitute teacher, and longtime high school secretary at Kirk Academy, where she also served as tennis coach and Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsor. Her influence extended far beyond her job description; in 2021, the Kirk Academy yearbook was dedicated to her, honoring her as “Mama Jo Jo,” a trusted caregiver and constant source of encouragement, prayer, and support for students and staff alike.

A devoted member of the Junior Auxiliary of Grenada, Jo Lynn’s commitment to service has also shaped her family’s multigenerational involvement in the organization. Beyond JA, she remains an active volunteer through Emmanuel Baptist Church, regularly serving at the Ministry Center and participating in outreach efforts that meet real needs in the community.

Jo Lynn has been married to her husband, Troye, since 1984. They are now the proud grandparents of eight grandchildren. Jo Lynn and Troye’s oldest daughter, Amanda, is married to Alex Johnson and lives in Collierville with her two children, Josie and Landry. Their second daughter, Emily, is married to Matt McCrory and lives in Oxford with her four children, Charlotte, Millie, Beau, and Hattie. Jolynn and Troye’s son, Troye III, and his wife, Chelsea, are the parents of two children, Sophie and Troye IV. Jo Lynn’s two daughters were members of JA’s Crown Club and were honored to represent Junior Auxiliary as Charity Ball princesses in high school. Her daughter-in-law, Chelsea, is currently an active member of Junior Auxiliary, where she has served in numerous capacities.
